Speak Kindly

The lie we’re taught when we were young:
words hurt less than sticks and stones;
but words slung at the right velocity
will resonate through our history
while bruises and bones mend
words from either enemy or friend
like seeds planted within our soul
tear us down or help us grow

so speak kindly today. grow something beautiful. 🙂

    1. You honor me by sharing this poem. Thank you. I am trying to find my way with the kind of poetry I write. I have been weaving and waving through a few styles – and these shorter poems – outside of the ones I write for performance – are beginning to be the direction I favor most. Thank you, as always, for your encouragement.

    1. Thank you Fekesh. Though I love to spit the longer poems and lead a listener on a tantalizing tale of sound and rhythm. There is must something to be said about few words with a simple message. This really is one of my favorites, and I am extra glad you like it.
