Curious indeed

Each foot fell upon pavement
I adjusted my jacket to keep out the chill
as the sound of the train called out behind me
the birds on the wires above watched my hastened
pacing with curiosity
… what strange creature I must be
featherless and tied to the whim of the
sounding beast, featherless in its own right
though moving at the pace of any of their kind
then to willingly be eaten
sucked into the bowls of it
a willing worm for it to devour
and every day the lot of us do
and now, as I sit on the seats warmed
by those traveling before me
I consider how very curious we
humans are indeed.

Open the doors

Open the doors, the windows and shades
letting in Spring a bit early today! \o/
The crows are cawing, a magpie or two
even the mockingbird is singing a tune
the whole world seems ready; albeit a few days to soon
even the maple has the beginnings of blooms
so…. Open the doors, the windows and shades
let in the Spring just a bit early today!
