Serenade in mango

as you set upon emerald hills

stretching out in violet glory

your hands to touch the rills

Let not this moment last too long

for eyes quick to gray and weary,

be just a moment, breath of breaths

so memory will scarlet keep thee.

And should mine eyes close to soon

and sleep too quickly take me

in slumbers wait and colorless embrace

to rest beneath the maple,

Paint for me in stone edge’s long

this day of mango sets and rills somber song
