Never know

For it to be known a word must be spoken
not kept under lock and key
they must rush the lips and embrace
the silhouette of risk, longingly
these heartfelt thoughts to you from me
yet I pause
for colored adoration, sound’s traveled wife
blink in step a thousand miles
walk on water in a moments notice –
Fear, like the titanic unprepared for ice,
my words will sink into an abyss
unrecognized in tone, tenor, or tension
to lay naked upon the sandy shores alone
beneath the currents of loves you
will surely have before and above me
So, with hope
these words bid time to flee
failure to falter
and rush not my aged lips
to speak
but remain under Pandora’s eye
for dreams to paint and sleep
to endure possibilities
that may never come.

Kiss me

Kiss me, Life
and give me breath that I might
fill my dreams with your beauty
be wrapped in your passion
the embrace of risk and the
cry of the daring poet.
Kiss me deeply
and cause my heart to swim
in the eternal spring of curiosity
that I might dive deep into the world
and raise up my soul to the
heavens, to be welcomed
among the stars.

When we meet

When we meet, I shall confess I have never left your side
for the dream of you has been with me and
the thought of you my light
When we kiss, I shall whisper I am found
the vision of you igniting a fire to burn
even the darkest of nights to dawn
and the lightest of eves to shade
– my path to you never faded.
When we love, I shall smile for no words shall
ever be enough to define the power of your heart
a breath away from mine.
