Silence

Silence is deaf’ning
the space left is awareness
we become human

Spinning it

Spinning it
straight
to all the
peacemakers
and the
‘let’s negotiate’
state to state
try to elucidate
naysayers:
This is our life
you try to
dictate
me-diate
desecrate
and overstate
in propagandic
pamphlets of lies
while children watch
how to live
their lives
on Gossip girl and
Desperate housewives.

We interrupt this program
With violence at 5.

It’s all hypocrisy
apostasy
dressed in black
and swinging bats
of reli-gi-osity
defending a notion
of superiority
over mediocrity
and casting lots
for tv spots
in places not
your own,
throwing stones
while smoking a bowl
and shake 2000
years of bones

I just want to scream

GOD BE DAMNED!!
Let me be me!

Because
we spend
our cents
just as you,
put lives on the line
donate our time
give to our nation
in secret and pride,
yet there you go
to cast your vote
without compassion
or a fraction
of civility.
you force others to
live your reality
negating life, love, memory
and space
with a push of a button
and a finger in our face.
you spit in our direction
with your obsession,
an over zealous need
for oppression
and I have to ask
who is next?

Will it be a repeat
from the same sheet
a century ago?
Black, white or indigo?
Will it be newcomers
with hope filled eyes
questing for a piece of
American pie?
will it be the Muslim
on bended knee
thanking Allah for being free?
the Buddhist
Pagan, African or Chinese?
The short, the tall
The grey, the weak?
You tell me
while we
continue
to spin it
straight.

It’s that simple

Placid
acid
slithers beneath my skin
burning every notion
of civil dialogue
with this demagogue;
inciting
biting
and inviting
demons imagined
impassioned
with rage
to take stage
and gloat
from pulpits
vote.
or drink
don’t think
his cup of morali-tea
simmered in 2000
seasons
giving reasons
stoning solution
civil execution
of rights.
Now the acrid motion
of emotion
melts past indecision
fists grip
feet shift
the horizon changes hue
from me to you
blue
into red
into orange
solutions
bringing out our
revolutions
to engage
confront
confound
into the ground
our feet pressed down
and running
free
equality
negating tyranny
by a malicious majority
to be you
to be me…

It’s that simple

Blind Reason

Motivated by sympathy
orchestrated by fear
out of reach
like pealing a peach
the media holds hands
with the devil.
Let me get my shovel
for all the shit
smothering and damp
thrown out into the world
by clamoring salmon
claiming
discrimination is written
and so it should be
as we see
not as it was intended
or was it?
Translation
misinterpretation
regurgitation
mix into a glass of
almost got it
and left behind
on a bus to nowhere
on a bridge to anywhere
get me out of here!
There is
to much blind
reason

to the negation
segregation
manipulation
taxation with
no representation
exclusivity
not you
only me
mentality.
Why not seek civility?
Be you and be me
not us against them
count your friends
1 to 10
million waging a war
fighting for more
democracy…
It’s crazy, when freedom
should ring
it only fizzles
in rain drops and drizzle
for the haves.
Was it not womens voices
standing in traffic violations
beaten and thown in chains
that brought out the bell
with determination?
Why can’t we,
see
like them
honor our dead
and lay out our cause
at the feet
of invisible motorcades
and escapades of political
meanderings
so the blindness
can be removed
and you and I be moved
to peaceful affections.

see me, see you

Blind as the majority may be
I see you as you see me
beyond the headlines of obscurity
left to dwindle down the page
hiding in the chaos of everyday
truth
where you see me and I see you.

Life plucked out
from momentary suspicion
innocently motivated
but nonetheless built
in submission
stand I
against you, against me
to see what others
blindly leave behind
in newspapers rotting
along the side of the road.

Conspiracy manipulates truth
deviates enigma of revelation
misinterpretation
hiding in the lines of a minor character’s tale…
this is where I will prevail.
So read this and play for me
the tune I know you hear
for it is you who should hold fear.

Voices will not be quiet
along the hallways dim with
perceptions calculat..ing
in this people’s sea
because I see you
as you see me.

And we are not afraid.
